ABOUT

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Just in case you didn’t get a full sense of my background from my posts, I am a Senior Digital Strategist who has worked in both the consumer PR and digital marketing industries for a number of years on brands including, Vodafone, YO! Sushi, British Red Cross and Starwood Hotel Group. I love PR and have found the (what I see as natural) shift into digital comms truly exciting. Without boring you all with a list of my credentials – if interested, click here.

This read is for all those people (incl. other PRs) who have the ‘so/and what’ questions about social media channels, who want some of the myths dispelled and who want to understand how and why people are really using such channels to engage and interact with brands. It also covers some of my own practical experiences taking brands into social media, and some of the challenges they can face.

I will pepper in a few best practice guides that I have had published elsewhere including any Prezis I have created and presented at briefings/events. There’s, of course, a few self-indulgent posts too which take on the form of mini rants about what’s bothering me media-wise online but these are created to generate discussion, so if you don’t agree with what you read…feel free to comment away…

There is no, what I consider to be, ‘technical jargon’ here, just a light hearted discussion of what I see to be the issues we PRs are facing on both a day to day (practical) and future gazing level.

When I’m not being defined by my day job, I am a twenty-something Londoner (originally from Devon – no accent I’m afraid) who:

  • Is on her laptop just a little too much
  • Loves immersing herself in crap TV on the weekend
  • Reads Ben Elton books, particular favourite, Blind Faith (yes, I know – the irony!)
  • Running by the River (listening to music ‘The Hubby’ considers generic, warbley, over produced rubbish)

Any thoughts / feedback are greatly appreciated so get in touch via comments or follow me @GeorgieC
